I am feeling a little relaxed so I have some time to do my June backlogs… backlogs meaning the posts I meant to do, comments I meant to write… and posts I want to share…
I am answering Rory’s 12 Questions from his series, 12 Bloggerz which he publishes every month.
Here are the questions:
Have you learned anything during the pandemic and especially the lockdowns that has changed your outlook on you, your life and or your personality that is truly significant?
I have become more appreciative of the blessings I receive. I realized I was stronger than I thought. I’ve always thought I was a glass half empty kind of person but this pandemic made me see that I actually am not, I am practical and I have owned it in the past year and that has saved our family significantly and that kind of practical thinking seemed glass half full to me.
In your ideal world or lifestyle, how much sleep do you think you really need to function at your most optimum level and more importantly – do you get your desired amount daily?
I do function best with at least six hours of sleep daily. I become grumpier but still functional at five. I do get my 6 hours of sleep yes, but I honestly want to sleep more, like at least 8.
What are you most terrified of today?
My parents and youngest sister are homeward bound soon because my folks are retiring. Our home, the Philippines is 8-9 hours away by plane from Saudi Arabia and the thought of not seeing them as often terrifies me. This will be the first time that we’re all living apart.
What do you do for fun or excitement to fill your day/days or week?
I do have lots of things that keep me excited. Shared it here.
What is one of the most important features people should know about you?
I am a Christian and I believe that Jesus died for my sins, so I can be saved. It is important for people to know that about me because as a person, I am very open-minded and I listen to people a lot. I am also a mom, a friend, a neighbor, a daughter, a sister and a wife. I am friends with different types of people, religious and non-religious folks, but when it comes to the choices I make, I am always bound by my beliefs and I do feel I have the responsibility to share the Gospel. So yes, I may be a mom, but a Christian mom, a friend, but your Christian friend, a neighbor, but your Christian neighbor — so yes, some do mind, but most don’t.
Whilst in recent times much of life has appeared gloomy and doomed – in the last 15 months or so, what have been 3 really good things to happen in your life?
- Our problems were solved
- Son, husband and I survived Covid-19
- My parents remained healthy
How often do you watch old television series and if you do, what makes for a good viewing on older content in your eyes and do you find that time relaxing?
How old are we talking about? If you meant the reruns? I do it all the time. Even the ones I’ve seen for the first time recently is relative old. Remember The Shield? I just saw it for the very first time in May 2021 because I got inspired after watching Sons of Anarchy for the first time as well, like few weeks before The Shield. As for rerunning TV series, I am currently watching Breaking Bad with my husband over dinner and the hour after it. It’s relaxing indeed. You get to watch a good show + you can do other things without the need to fully focus your energy attention into the show.
How often do you use herbs in your cooking and which ones are your most favourited and why?
I love thyme on croissants and I am in love with saffron. I don’t cook much though so I do not get to use fancy herbs with fancy names… but I love them on my food.
How confident are you about taking a vacation/holiday to another destination that would involve air travel?
Like right now on pandemic timetable? Not confident at all because I cannot take the vaccine yet being heavily allergic on many things. I am hopeful that I can get cleared for the vaccine soon though. But normally, we do love air travel except for when Brook was a baby… oh my! It was super hard.
Are you a tidy or a messy or somewhere in between type of person?
I am not messy at all.
What is the most useless product you have ever bought unwittingly or accidentally thinking it was more practical than it actually was?
Perhaps it’s one of my most recent Amazon purchases, The Cereal Dispenser! LOL. It’s making a lot of mess. It looked good though but with Brook enjoying how he’d turn the knob, uggh… mess! I really thought it’d look very hotel breakfast type… but yes, hotels have people cleaning after every messy kid who loves playing with the dispenser’s knob.
There you go! My answers to Rory’s 12 Bloggers Questions!

Great post! The question of whether I’ve learned anything from the pandemic really caught my eyes. I’ve learned not to take anything for granted and that we must have bad times to truly appreciate the good times. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your realization this pandemic. It is very true and I believe that people finally seeing that is one of the brighter sides of this historical event…

Hey, cereal dispenser is important, okay? Haha. How do you use saffron in your cooking? If only it was abundant here. And I am glad you see the glass as half-full now. This makes me smile a lot. Maybe I will pick up these questions, too. They are fun!

Hahaha… touché!!! Fine, cereal dispenser is important 😀 😀 😀
Re: Saffron, I don’t cook well enough to know… but I love it on my food… my MIL puts it on lugaw (safflower), on creamy soups, and my mom would put it in risottos and stews… but not the super expensive type of saffron huh… there’s the affordable kind — the local ones being sold in Arab market 😀 😀 😀

Love the story about the cereal dispenser. It’s funny how these things that are supposed to make our lives easier sometimes have the opposite effect.

Hahaha… you are right! And after I told my son to pls. avoid making a lot of mess, he seemed to have stopped eating cereal and would ask for alternatives.

super winner mommy ng mga sagot mo po. what i love is that you’re a Christian but you don’t shove your belief down other people’s throat. but at the same time you’re the one who sticks to her guns on principles and belief system she’s established!

Thanks Kimmie…
I try to balance… we have no one to share the Good News to if they’re all cringey about us… respecting their set boundaries is very important in witnessing for the Lord… masaya ako kasi despite our secular blogs, our faith still shows…
