Whenever I do my Song Lyric Sunday challenge, I always consider the first thing that comes to mind regardless of its significance in my life (or lack thereof). This week, Jim has given us the following prompt words: Breeze, Cloud, Sky, and Wind. My entry this week is, Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts (Songwriters: Crofts Dash / Crofts Darrell G). This song did pop in first… and many others minutes later, hahaha.
See the curtains hangin’ in the window
In the evening on a Friday night
A little light-a-shinin’ through the window
Lets me know everything’s all right
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin’ through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin’ though the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin’ on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the doorstep
Through the screen and across the floor
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin’ through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin’ through the jasmine in my mind
Sweet days of summer
The jasmine’s in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day’s work
And you’re waitin’ there, not a care in the world
See the smile awaitin’ in the kitchen
Food’s cookin’ and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
This is a lovely version.

Jim Seals said that “jasmine in my mind” symbolizes feelings of contentment and harmony and this is a lovely song Janis.

Thank you for sharing, Janis. This is one of my all time favourite songs, Janis. Seals and Crofts (Nash and Young) are fabulous in any case. I like playing this on my guitar. In fact I have just pulled out a ukulele (as I don’t have a mandolin) and am playing along. I will grab my guitar next and do the same. Diamond Girls popped up next, so I will jam along to that too.

They are so good! I grew up listening to their music as my dad is a frustrated musician. I have them on my playlist ❤
It must be so nice to be able to do that. Playing the guitar whenever! I am the only one who doesn't know how to play guitar in our family and it can get pretty intense over the weekend because everyone's got their instruments and we do love to sing and jam.
One time, my sister bought me a pair of finger cymbals to mock me — because she knows I am frustrated.
They told me, I bet if Ate (me) knows how to play the guitar, she'd have a youtube channel showcasing it nonstop…
My mom said, "Thank God she doesn't know how"

We still have all our vinyl records and a number of their albums in the collection. My other comment was meant to be Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young) re Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.
Lol 😂, Janis re your family. We have 18 musical instruments at home, including finger symbols.
I can keep people entertained for a few hours. Sometimes, it even sounds alright 😊
You should learn the guitar sometime. You can play an amazing number of songs with four chords.

I tried. Mom enrolled me, initially their struggle was because I’m left handed. But they discovered that I am good strumming with my right hand but apparently, lacked coordination and interest.
In our family, I am famous for the 2 songs I can play in the piano, Under Pressure and Groovy Kind of Love… apart from the usual recital pieces, fur elise and minuet. They tease me because I didn’t learn anything right after.
My brother-in-law (a recent addition to the family) seemed challenged. He cannot accept that someone who had formal training and knows how to read chords cannot play. He can’t believe it’s possible. I believe he will teach me in Ramadan.
Crosby, Stills, Nash — very familiar. My father’s got their records not on vinyl but on CD and cassette. They have recently shipped them to the Philippines – for their forever home.
Young is Neil Young, right?
18 instruments?!! Wow! Does everyone in your family play a piece?
