at 40. “
“Does that mean that mine hasn’t begun?”
I say it begins when you decide it begins.
I am spending my birthday at work. My school friends who all turned / turns 40 this year assumed that I am of the same age. I am actually just 39. I started primary school earlier than my batch. Not to burst their bubble, I had to let them think that yeah, I turned forty, bummer. LOL. I am still a year short! I think the highlight of my day is knowing that I am a year younger than my friends.

My son said, “No fair! Who spends their birthday at work?”
I was like, “I’ve spent it at work ever since the world began.”
He actually thought it’s a holiday.
My last year, as most people who care about me know had been quite a ride but through God’s grace and mercy, I have managed to overcome all the hurdles with flying colors! I could not have done it alone. He truly came through and allowed for me to wrap the year with a smile.
I couldn’t ask for anything more! I know that GOD knows what we need and I am ultimately grateful for all He’s done for us.
My family has thrown a party for me yesterday and my husband gave me some generous gifts. He told me I deserved it for all the things I had to sacrifice last year because of him. I am not used to receiving anything really, nevertheless— I know I won’t be allowed to turn it down so I gladly accepted.

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday, we have DJ as the prompt and we are asked to feature a song whose title must start with the letter D or J. So I chose something from Aerosmith, since it’s my birthday today.
Dream On
Every time when I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
And it went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn’t that the way?
Everybody’s got their dues in life to pay
Yeah, I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it’s everybody’s sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life’s in books, written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it’s true, oh
All the things come back to you
Sing with me, sing for a year
Sing for the laughter, and sing the tear
Sing with me, if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear
Sing it with me, if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream until the dream come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on, ah
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear
Sing it with me, if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Thank you! ❤ When I thought of the song… I didn't even consider how the lyrics were too timely for a bday 😀 And then, voila!

Happy Birthday! 40 is a good milestone too for next year! I had “Dream On” on 45 rpm when I was a teenager. 🙂 Love it! 🙂

Yes, I can’t wait!
I incorporated the song lyric Sunday entry thinking I don’t want to double post in Sunday. I thought of Dream on bec it was playing on my way to work… i didnt realize how timely the lyrics were for s bday celebration…
45 rpm! That’s cool! And they’re bringin them back by the way!

You don’t look 39. I didn’t look 40 or 50 on those birthdays. I don’t think I look 55 either.
I saw vinyl albums at Walmart the other day. Hadn’t been in one in months but I was out of vitamins. There was almost no one in the store so it was great to walk around. I didn’t see any 45s. I have some in the attic that was used for 50s decor from a Bunco party several years ago. I wished I had my records from when I was a kid. 😊

Thank you 🙂 Now I am not so sure, perhaps the 45s that I saw where only decorative ones..
I think we’ve gotten used to not leaving the house… I still haven’t gone to the mall since covid… Although my friends go out normally… I dont see myself doing that in the near future.

We stay home except to go where we have to. I went to Michaels yesterday to pick up something for a gift that I’m making. We go outdoors to the beach or hiking & birding where we can social distance. I haven’t seen my grandkids in over a year because they are in school and still have friends over. My hubby is 65, in great health but no need to rock the boat. You are being smart. 😊

True! No need to rock the boat indeed! If you’re provax, I hope you get it soon 🙂

They say life begins at 40, but I think that really means by the time you reach 40, you know what you like and what you dislike and you’re not afraid to admit that to yourself and others.

Thanks for reading… I think you are right… because one wouldn’t really know how to live their lives unless they know what pleases / displeases them and being able to be vocal about it gives a sense of freedom ❤
